Students will be able to gain access to the first year of selected university degrees, or to any of the Level 4 CTH Diploma programmes. It is also a free-standing qualification for those who wish to enter employment at team member level.

Study structure
The CTH Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism is a 120 credit course where students are required to develop a comprehensive foundation knowledge of the sector and the academic study skills that will prepare them for further studies in hospitality and tourism. Students can achieve the 600 Guided Learning Hours (1200 TQT) in a combination of face-to-face classroom interactions, attending seminars, visits to hotels, self study and group study, as well as research work. Students studying this qualification online or via distance learning may require more hours to complete the qualification. The programme includes a full set of comprehensive CTH learning materials including student manuals for each unit, as well as a range of lecturer support resources to aid effective classroom delivery.

- Essentials of Human Resources & Business Computing in Tourism & Hospitality –
An understanding of the organisation of staff in
tourism and hospitality.
Assessment: Examination
- Essentials of Marketing & Customer Relationships in Tourism & Hospitality –
An introduction to marketing, sales and customer relationships in the tourism and hospitality industry. Assessment: Examination
- Tourism & Hospitality Industry –
An overview of the different characteristics and types of hotel and food service providers. Assessment: Assignment.
- Essentials of Tourism & Hospitality Operations –
Including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage operations, destination analysis and tour guiding. Assessment: Work-based or Assignment
- Essentials Study Skills –
Academic communication, writing assignments and making presentations. Assessment: Assignment (70%) & Presentation (30%).

This course offers UCAS Tariff Points as follows: a Pass gives 24 Points, a Merit 48 Points & a Distinction 72 Points. Students may complement this course by simultaneously taking the Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality Practice.
